Pedalboard: March 2026

Funny how you end up building the board you wanted in high school

 Pedalboard: March 2026

This is exactly the kind of board I wanted when I was in high school. Back then, pedals were a real luxury, though - I only ever had a handful at any time. I didn’t even have a pedalboard until my mid-20s — until then I just dumped them in my gig bag or had an Ikea shelf I put Velcro on.

But the Ibanez DE7 was an early obsession of mine - I think Omar Rodriguez Lopez used one on early Mars Volta records - partially because you could get ‘em for $40.

Obligatory random big box EHX pedal, orange Boss distortion… The only thing that doesn’t ring true between this and what I was playing in high school is that the tuner’s too nice - that should be an Ibanez LU20 or one of those old analog Boss one you had to plug into separately.

March 2026

  1. Polytune
  2. Smallsound/Bigsound Mini - What a little powerhouse. All kinds of boost/overdrive/fuzz in here.
  3. Boss DF-2 - My favorite of the Boss DS-adjacent pedals. Lots of fun. Not a lot of volume.
  4. Electro Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress - I keep trying to find other pedals that do this but smaller. Maybe I will in the future, but for now this is worth the real estate.
  5. Ibanez DE7 - chefs kiss No notes. A floaty cloud machine.
  6. Nux JTC - Kind of a shit drum machine but a drum machine nonetheless.
